I am Still Here,
I am Still Here, By Mikayla Walla
You tore me apart,
Knocked me six feet underground, and
You so desperately hoped I would stay there.
You ripped me apart at the seams,
And shredded the pieces.
I broke like glass thrown from the Eiffel Tower.
But I am still here,
Despite the things you did to me.
I can still smell your beer-filled breath,
Caressing my shoulder in the crudest way.
I can still feel your hands,
Going places I did not want them to go.
I can still hear your voice whispering my name
(because how could I ever forget the way you sounded—you
appear in every nightmare I’ve had since).
Despite the memories that batter me,
I am still here.
Despite the bomb that shattered my soul,
I am still here.
Despite the hellfire that consumed my thoughts and made me hate myself,
I am still here.
Despite you,
I am still here.
I am still here.
